Fishing is my religion

Fishing is my religion.

This phrase popped into my mind a couple of weeks ago and has never stopped doing so since.  I guess today things are changing ever so quickly.  Our social lives have changed over the last 10 years with social media and smartphones.  Personally I think it is all related to a feeling we all have experienced at some point in our lives; the feeling of belonging to something and being 'attentioned'.  Some people require this more than others in their lives, and others don't really need it.  But the majority of us obtain satisfaction by feeling that we belong to a group, to an interest or to a passion.

Then there are those who want to share their passions, experiences and get satisfaction in seeing other people enjoy it as much as they do.

That is why social media today ceases to amaze me.  The possibilities seem endless and sometimes I ask myself is this ever going to end?  Without spending too much time asking myself that question I decided to 'hop' on this train which I would call the 'tech train'.
Though I have limited myself to a few social media platforms.  I currently use Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.  I'm also beginning to write in these blogs, even if I don't really know where it all ends up and who is actually going to read this! Hopefully my fans!

Which brings me back to my title. Fishing has become some sort of religion in my life.  I think about it all the time, I believe that it does me good when I'm fishing, I love the sensation of it and I respect all aspects involved with fishing.  I just can't wait till the next fishing opportunity presents itself and when you are out sharing it is even better.

Social media has I believe made these types of passions have the impact they never had before.  Watching a TV series isn't just enough anymore these days.  We want to 'follow' our interests 24/7 and we are sharing in a virtual world our experiences but at the same time it is real and immediate.  This all seems great and I do think it should all be used wisely and in moderation as with all things in life.

To finish off today's entry, I just want to say that I think our religious world has pretty much turned against us.  Our beliefs have gotten many of us in trouble and religion has always been a source for war and conflict.  I think that today I am pretty much part of those who have delved into looking for other beliefs that also require fate, hope, respect and an open mind.

Fishing is my religion,

Nathaniel,
